Here too the snow has fallen. On thursday night we had about ten centimeters of snow and the temperature has stayed below zero degrees so it has stayed with us. Unfortunately the sun shining on the black pavement of the roads melted some of the snow, and the water then froze at night and made driving very difficult. All of the streets are covered with a sheet of ice, except where they plowed the snow and sanded the street. It seems that we have much in common. Besides both of our cities being on the shores of the two greatest lakes in the world, it seems we also share the weather! Stay Warm! Here in Indiana it just got cold (+4C), snowed for about 10 minutes on Saturday morning, but otherwise it is still fall weather, sunny and chilly, which is ok with me. What I really miss living here, though, is skiing and skating in the winter - it gets cold and snows, of course, but only for a week at a time, and then it gets warm and the snow melts, so there is never enough to ski... Holiday time came to the US - Halloween just passed, Thanksgiving is at the door, and the stores already stocked up with Christmas merchandise. Pumpkin sales are at the highest, and massive turkey slaughter is taking place all over the country - animal right activists are getting restless, of course. The school semester is almost over, just one set of midterm exams left, so college students stopped drinking for a while and are studying desperatly in the hope to improve their grades before finals. Our first storm is normally around the middle of November. It will melt in a couple days. Any snow we get after Christmas will stay until April.
