Russian Language Course at Irkutsk State Linguistic University

General description and long term studies

An International Department was established in the Irkutsk State Linguistic University of Foreign Languages few years ago. The aim of the department is to provide assistance to foreigners wishing to obtain higher philological education in the field of Russian language, as well as other languages such as English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese.

Classes are offered in the following disciplines:

Prominent specialists in the fields of Russian language, literature, foreign languages, history and psychology are employed by the department, and modern teaching techniques are actively used. At the students' option, special courses in ecology, history of Siberia, literature and Russian language are offered. Courses are held by experienced professors and tutors of the university.

After the completion of the studies, a Diploma is issued to acknowledge successful graduates. Foreigners with a basic knowledge of Russian, and students wishing to improve their fluency may enroll in the Preparatory Department, with a program duration of 3 to 10 months.

After the completion of the 10 months of preparatory studies, an applicable certificate is be issued. The university has a Postgraduate Studies Department where foreign teachers of Russian can improve their knowledge and skills in a variety of programs during a 3- to 10-month course.

The university will also invite foreign tourists wishing not only to learn Russian, but also to get acquainted with Irkutsk and have a vacation at Lake Baikal, for summer courses (2 to 8 weeks).

Every year there are students and teachers from all over the world, including the United States, Germany, China, and Korea, to mention just a few, who join our wide range of training programs.

The university is located in the downtown section of Irkutsk, maintains modern premises and facilities, and provides students with comfortable boarding in its many dominitories. There are good accomodations available for students in a nice part of the city (Baikalskaya street).

The people of Irkutsk are well-known for their benevolence and hospitality.

Short term course

Duration: 1-12 month. Very popular are 1-month summer courses for small groups, with 16 hours/week classroom time.
